About Artsmix
Arts mix was designed by Jane Turner over the last 4 years. It's development was in response to the lack of affordable Arts activities for young people, caused by the inability for organisations to employ affordable art practitioners for after school and holiday sessions. The vision is to build capacity in this area by training young leaders who already had lots of arts experience and who could work in their local areas for a fair wage.
Jane used her 25 years experience as a Drama teacher to produce a comprehensive tool kit of tried and tested games, exercises and advice on how to set up and run arts sessions for ages 7 to 14. These skills are taught to, and in turn used by young leaders to run creative clubs.
The programme uses a clear set of guidelines for running every session, and how to manage young people safely and effectively. All students are encourage to follow the same route and to slot their expertise into the outline.
Each session will start with Chill it (welcome and relationship building) and then move to shake it (warm ups) Teach it (learning new skills) make it (creating student input).
